OVERVIEW

High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS), as its name suggests, is a high impact resistance polystyrene type with approximately five to seven times greater resistance than regular polystyrene or general purpose polystyrene (GPPS). HIPS offers tough and rigid properties that make it suitable for many applications. For HIPS, the high impact mechanical properties vary depending on the type and the percentage of rubber used to modify regular polystyrene.

Some of main characteristic of high impact polystyrene:
- Great toughness
- Stiffness

- Heat resistance
- Good machinability
- Suitable for extrusion, thermoforming, injection molding

High impact polystyrene is suitable for various applications including:

Packaging / Disposables
       o Yogurt pots, drinking cups
Appliances and Electronics
o Instrument control knobs, electrical appliances
Housewares
o Bathroom cabinets, seats, refrigerator liners
